Battling Hypertension in the Community
Health and business organizations are joining forces in the battle against hypertension. The Rochester Business Alliance and the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency are forming the High Blood Pressure Collaborative Work Group.
Results from a new online survey will be used to gauge the community’s awareness of hypertension, and attitudes toward treatments.
Wade Norwood of FLHSA says the survey is particularly important to people of color, who are twice as likely as whites to have high blood pressure.
Survey results will be tabulated in the next two weeks, and made public next month. A series of free blood pressure screenings will be held throughout the community this summer.
The survey is available at the United Way, Rochester Business Alliance and Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency websites, or you can follow this link to take the survey.
